A Rezdôra Christmas in London

Where tradition, beauty, and a little magic meet

Every December, my holiday tradition begins with a weekend in London dedicated to sourcing meaningful gifts and exploring festive traditions. I could shop anywhere, but some places hold history, charm, and a touch of theatre that make the experience special. London, in this sense, is incomparable for Christmas shopping and cultural exploration.

Liberty London — my forever favourite

My first stop is always Liberty.

If Christmas had a home in London, for me, it would be inside that enchanting mock-Tudor building on Great Marlborough Street.

Founded in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty, the store was born from the dream of bringing the finest craftsmanship and textiles from around the world into the heart of the city. Walking through its timbered halls — built from two Royal Navy ships — feels like slipping into a cabinet of curiosities that beckons holiday shoppers seeking unique treasures.

Liberty is famous for its iconic Tana Lawn cotton, delicate florals, paisley motifs, and fabrics that couturiers and collectors adore. What I love most is how each floor feels curated with intention-fashion, home décor, stationery, jewellery, each infused with Liberty’s distinctive charm, making it a must-visit for holiday shopping.

I know London has no shortage of luxurious shops, but Liberty is classic London style. Every year, I fall again for their bags and jewellery — refined, artistic, never predictable.

Fortnum & Mason — elegance in a hamper

No Rezdôra Christmas trip would be complete without a visit to Fortnum & Mason in St James’s.

Founded in 1707, the store has grown from a humble grocery to a symbol of British culinary excellence — so refined that even royalty took notice.

Its Piccadilly food halls are a feast for the senses: teas, chocolates, biscuits, preserves, exotic ingredients from every corner of the world, and the legendary Fortnum hampers. Christmas without a Fortnum hamper? Unthinkable. The wicker basket alone embodies holiday cheer, making it a perfect gift or treat during the season.

Every year, I buy their Christmas tea collections — beautifully presented, wonderfully fragrant, and perfect to keep “just in case” for forgotten gifts. This year, I also surrendered to their irresistible tea accessories. I came home with a Travel Tea Infuser that I absolutely couldn’t resist.

And then, the perfume department — a treasure chest of fragrances you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

And yes, I confess: I adore their decadent Christmas decorations. In our increasingly minimalist homes, a touch of festive extravaganza feels deliciously fun.

A London stroll for the soul

Between Green Park and Piccadilly, there are spots no Christmas shopper should miss.

Maison Assouline, for instance, is a dream if you love coffee table books the way I do. Their bar is so elegant you could spend hours sipping an intoxicating cocktail while flipping through glossy pages. The James Bond collection completely stole my heart — how can one choose between “Destination”, “Style”, or “Car”? You really can’t; you need all three.

If the weather turns rainy (as it often does in London), I love ducking into the Burlington Arcade. It feels like stepping back in time—polished marble, twinkling windows, and that British sense of quiet luxury. Nearby, the lesser-known Piccadilly Arcade hides wonderful surprises, like New & Lingwood’s men’s dressing gowns: classic yet with a modern twist that makes them unforgettable.

Why this trip matters to me

For many, Christmas shopping is merely a task. For me, it is an act of love, an opportunity to think ahead, choose with intention, and envision the joy on someone’s face when they open something explicitly selected for them. London, with its history, beauty, and unique corners of magic, makes this ritual feel even more special. Each year, I return home with my suitcase filled not just with gifts, but with inspiration, flavours, colours, and stories. These are precisely the kinds of things a Rezdôra thrives on
