About Rezdôra

You may wonder what Rezdôra means. I am from Emilia-Romagna, a region of Italy famous for its food and culinary traditions — from tortellini and Prosciutto di Parma to balsamic vinegar. La Rezdôra is a traditional figure deeply rooted in the region’s culture.

The name derives from the Latin verb regere, meaning “to direct”.

In the past, countryside families were often large, with several generations living together under the same roof. The Rezdôra was the matriarch who managed the home, family life and culinary traditions. She also looked after the livestock and orchards.

She was a skilled cook and homemaker, but much more than that. She was a pillar of the family and often of the wider community — a caring, capable figure who knew how to make things work and was always ready to help.

 

My grandmother was a Rezdôra. You would always find what you needed in her home: delicious food, a clean space, a stocked pantry, a full fridge, a sense of calm and joy, and thriving plants. Who doesn’t need a Rezdôra?
The whole family gathered around the table, hands dusted with flour, each taking part in bringing the dough to life.
When the dough grew too big to handle by hand, they turned to the Gramola, a hand-cranked machine once used.

My idea is rooted in my past — a bridge between tradition and the way we live today.

I want to bring that same sense of care, order and warmth into your home. The food I prepare comes from my family traditions: made from scratch, genuine and simple. It’s the kind of food that brings back memories and comforts the soul.

As a Rezdôra, I embody the spirit of this traditional figure, bringing the same care, attention to detail and nurturing approach into your home. Today, that means helping families through proper home cooking, thoughtful personal assistance and a practical, personal service shaped around everyday life.

I’m not a chef. I’m a Rezdôra — someone who brings care, organisation and good food into your home.
